    Before I start my letter, I would like to thank you for supporting me with this scholarship. You are a great blessing and help for me and my studies. I started college on August 19th and the first two days I went to welcome activities at the university, sports activities and talks about the institution and the careers.  After those two days of activities, they started giving me normal classes in one of the industrial engineering laboratories.

    There were so many students in the industrial engineering program that we didn't fit in the laboratory, so two weeks later they assigned us a bigger room. The first few weeks at the university were a bit difficult because I didn't know anyone, I didn't know much about Ensenada and I didn't have any knowledge of what it would be like to study at the university, but now everything is improving. I am adapting to Ensenada and I am having good experiences in my life, full of friends and things that I know will do me good.

    The subjects that I am currently taking are: research methods, intellectual tools workshop, ethics workshop, industrial drawing, differential calculus and chemistry. The subject that I find difficult is definitely calculus. I have never liked math, but I am studying more and trying to improve in all of this. The subject that I like the most is chemistry and I find it surprising that my teacher teaches me applications of chemical reactions in the industry because chemistry is so important in industrial engineering. I have always liked this subject, and I am happy to be able to have teachers that truly want their students to learn.

    Something that surprises me a lot are the job opportunities that I can get after I graduate. I hope to put in a great effort to be able to graduate from university and be able to improve myself as a person and achieve one of my goals. Without a doubt, university is an exciting experience, but at the same time, terrifying. Although this is my first month as a university student, I can say that I am enjoying this stage. I would like to enjoy everything that I will go through at university and be able to share my experience. In November of this year, there will be a conference for industrial engineering students in Mexicali and I hope to be able to go to learn about the industries and to learn more about my career.  I think it is wonderful that the university I attend does all these activities for the students and their learning. 

Without a doubt, the university will be a wonderful experience. Once again, thank you very much for your support of my education!!

At a rousing meeting on March 12, 2024, the Ramona Rotary Club gave their support to the Rotary Scholars Program of La Misión.  Their generous financial gift will support multiple students from the Primo Tapia community as  they embark on their university studies.  The La Misión club is grateful for Ramona's support of their students.

Gabe Fasolino and Leslie Garrison of La Misión Rotary in Baja, Mexico, have been invited to speak to the Ramona Rotary Club. They will share about the new Rotary Scholars Program starting in this rural Mexican community and assists dedicated students attain their dream of a university education. The Ramona and La Misión Clubs are looking to do what Rotary Clubs do, work together to make a better world.

The Rotary Scholars met at Rotarian Karen Arter's home to work on producing the first newsletter sent this year. While some of the students were writing, others were discussing what constitutes an engaging photo to accompany an article. The work was facilitated by laptop computers borrowed from Rotarians, as several of the students do not have access to computers at their homes.

Six exemplary students joined the Rotary Scholars Program at the La Misión Rotary Club meeting on Dec.21,2023. The scholars represent a wide variety of majors including criminology, tourism, education, business, and psychology.   The Emilio de la Fuente scholarship in Engineering was awarded to Ivannia Buscio, a future Industrial Engineer. The scholarships have been made possible by the generous donations of Rotarians.   The La Misión Rotary Club is immensely proud of these students.
